With over 30 years experience in the industry, we have a very strong background in helping horses and riders learn how to have fun, build confidence, and enjoy their ride. Our goal for consignment is to find the right match for the buyer and horse. Train with us for a quiet, balanced mind that will perform soft and supple at any discipline you choose. Specializing in colts and problem horses, Dawn will secure the confidence and trust in each horse so you are spending your money wisely. Consign with us knowing that you will only receive buyers that are a match for your horse and ready to purchase. Why answer questions all day long you do not have time to answer? Plus, we will advertise in every venue appropriate for your horse that the internet has to offer. Watching ads daily to see what buyers are looking and keeping up on the market to make sure your experience is a good one. Ads are rotated twice a week to capture buyers interest as they look on many different venues available to them. We ensure the biggest bang for your buck!
Owner/Trainer Dawn Stackhouse began riding in 1981, at age 5, and soon realized how much she loved the agility of the horse. Growing up participating in NW Gymkhana organizations, 4H, and AQHA Youth Programs, she discovered the perfect environment to become a very versatile rider. Competing at the state and regional levels taught Dawn how to be competitive in many disciplines including: gymkhana, western and english pleasure, trail, jumping, dressage, driving, and team penning. This basis showed Dawn her passion for the speed horse, but her competitive drive challenged her to be successful in the show ring.
In high school, Dawn apprenticed with a top reining trainer to learn how kindness and respect could grow a horses confidence without demanding pressure. Growing as a rider required seeking knowledge through lessons, training, and clinics with top professionals in various fields. The ability to combine techniques to achieve the ultimate end result became very natural, producing fast but correct results.
In 1999 Dawn opened Chickee Monkee Ranch. Over the next 11 years many horses were shown the confidence they needed to be successful, and many riders learned how to enjoy riding and showing. CMR produced and trained severala horses, ran a successful boarding facility in Canby, OR, and found homes for many horses through our consignment services. In 2008 our stallion Doc's Gone Dunit reached the NFQHA Reserve World Champion Novice Versatility title as CMR's last fully trained and shown horse. Doc was sold in 2011 and began his barrel racing career, where he now resides in southern CA and is on the trail to the NFR. We are so excited to watch his continued success.
We have relocated and are ready to continue what we enjoy, helping show horses how easy performing can be with confidence and trust of their riders. We are so excited to offer our expertise through JDS Equine Services.
